October to November

The leaves are falling fast around here as we make the transition from October to November.

OCTOBER was highlighted by several fun concerts in Michigan and one in Ohio. They were all fun, of course, but the coolest was early in the month aboard the USS LST393 which is docked in Muskegon, Michigan as a military museum. The entire concert was recorded on video, and we used part of that recording along with some photographs provided by a fan to make a video of our song Sing Me The Red River Valley. The video includes the story behind the song with a bit of a surprise at the end. You can see it on our Youtube channel. https://youtu.be/m-Xpsokl7nI
We ended October on a very high note by attending the annual conference of the Folk Alliance Region Midwest (FARM). It's always a reunion of old friends and an opportunity to make new ones in the folk music community. We had opportunities to showcase our music, help to present a workshop/panel discussion on how traditional music has influenced the music we now make, and volunteer a few hours of work to help the conference run smoothly. We always come out of it feeling physically exhausted and mentally and emotionally exhilarated.
Then we celebrated Halloween by having a new furnace installed which was way more expensive than the candy we might have given out on the cold wet night that followed, but the house feels more evenly warm, so we're happy with the result.
NOVEMBER will be exciting for us. We are making our now nearly annual pilgrimage to southern France. We are excited to see our friends there again and to share our music. We have a couple of nice gigs in lovely French restaurants, the chance to play for patients in a very special hospital, and a probable concert for the village that we now think of as our French home-away-from-home. We have several musical friends there, of course, and we look forward to jamming with them again. It will be  couple of exciting weeks. Watch our Facebook page for updates and photos.
The month ends for us with a holiday concert for the annual Festival Of Trees at the Muskegon Museum Of Art on November 29, the day after Thanksgiving. We will share a double bill with Julia And The Greensides. Your ticket also includes admission to the beautiful Holiday tree exhibit. The museum's auditorium is a great place for music, so please get your tickets early. $12 per person/$10 MMA Member. Call 231.720.2580 for tickets.
That's all for now, dear friends. Stay warm. Winter is on the way.
Thanks for sticking with us!
