Spring is finally really here. It is very welcome. 'Nuff said. Except...we're planting peas this weekend. Some say to plant them at Easter, but Easter's late this year so in the ground go the seeds. Most other planting will probably wait awhile.
We have some special dates coming up before the end of April and into May.
It has been years since we played a show at the
Norton Shores Library right in our hometown.
Saturday April 26 is the big day and 7:00 is the time. Advance tickets are on sale for the bargain price of $5. Get 'em while they're hot. Call 780-8844 for info.
Easter Sunday April 20 we're playing special music at
C3 Exchange Inclusive Spritual Community 421 Columbus Avenue, Grand Haven, MI 49417. We love to play at C3, and visitors are always welcome. The gathering begins at 10:00 a.m. The theme will be "oneness" and we've tried to pick songs to enhance that idea. Incidentally, they may very well be songs that you've never heard us do before, or lately at least. Come see what its all about.
Wednesday, April 23 we will be joining the Oat Bran Boys at the
Red Rooster Tavern, 2998 Scenic Dr, North Muskegon, MI 49445 (231) 744-4006. We show up there unannounced on a Wednesday night from time to time, but we've committed to this one. The Oat Bran Boys' John King (our favorite guitar player) invited us specifially for this night, and it happens to coincide with both John's and Max's birthdays. It'll be semi-controlled chaos, all acoustic musicians walking the tables with no PA, and certainly not all Ruth and Max all the time, but it's always a blast. If you haven't been there since the new menu and new atmosphere you really should try it. Music starts about 6:30.
May 17 marks our return to
Zellie's Opry House,
230 E. Edgerton Howard City, MI 49329. Music starts at 7:00. Zellie's is a warm and friendly concert venue that specializes in bluegrass and other roots music. It's a fun and special place to play and a great place to see and hear music. If you haven't been, you need to go. Owners, Terri and Keith, have become great friends of ours and we're hoping to fill the place up for them. Our dear friends (and great players!) John King and Dan Seabolt will be joining us on stage to help us make that special sound. Advance tickets available by mail.

Details on these and other upcoming shows are in the calendar listing below.
Pink Michigan Girl Hats. When Terri of Zellie's Opry House fame posted a beautiful video with
Ruth's song Michigan Girl as the music we had a great run on Michigan Girl Hats. We now have some pink hats in stock as a sort of tribute to Spring and Mother's Day. We'll have them at our shows while they last and they'll soon be available from our website
Hat Shop. Thank you so much for reading today. It's folks like you that make it possible for us to do what we do. We'll keep you posted about our activities this summer.
We're still booking for 2014, so if you know a place where we should play please do drop us an email. Or maybe you'd like to host a house concert. If that sounds interesting let us know and we'll talk about it. It's actually pretty easy to do.
Happy Spring!
Sincerely,
Ruth & Max
