The holidays are over and we're thawing out from the polar vortex. It was very cold and snowy around here for about a week, but they tell us no records were set. It's just a plain old winter, and plain old winter also can include a January thaw. Our driveway is clear again and most of the snow has melted from the roof. All is well.
The big snow did cause us to cancel a show. We were scheduled to play for the folks at Seminole Shores Assisted Living, but our driveway was drifted shut. They were very understanding and we hope to reschedule for late February or early March.
Here's what else is new for us. Click on the links for more information.
Our big news for January is the
South Florida Folk Festival's singer-songwriter competition. We submitted and made the finals, so we're heading south. The fest and competition are January 18 and 19. Some good friends of ours from the music world are booked there, too, so, win or not, it should be a very good time. Quite a number of friends and family have offered us hospitality in the area, so we're really looking forward to the whole experience.
Our next scheduled appearance after the festival is Feb. 3 at the
Grand Lake Golf and RV Resort in Citra, Fl. Arranged by good friends who stay there, it should be a great time, too. Yet other friends want to introduce us to their other friends from Michigan over near Port St. Lucie and Jenson Beach and have some venues to introduce us to for more big fun. This may sound like a lot, but it's really not. If anyone around Florida would like to host a house concert, club house show, or has any other ideas for us, please let us know. We're open to what may come our way as it's mostly an exploratory journey.
THANKYOU to all who have offered us hospitality during our trip. It means a whole lot to us.
When we get home we turn right away to our friends at the
Book Nook & Java Shop in Montague for a Valentine concert on Saturday February 15. Bring your sweetheart and help us celebrate the spirit of Valentine's Day.
Thanks for hanging with us. We wish you all the best for the coming year.
Sincerely,
Ruth & Max
