Welcome 2018

RUTH AND MAX BLOOMQUIST
Muskegon, MI

Dear ,

First of all we want to wish you the very best for the New Year. We also hope that 2017 treated you well.

For us, the biggest hightlight of the past year was certainly the release of our new CD, On a Canvas Painted Blue.  Recorded entirely in our home studio, the project was a challenging labor of love, took longer than we expected, and, in the end, made us very happy. Released on October 1, it has been getting airplay in folk radio these three months.

Earlier in the Fall, we were fortunate to have been invited to play the Michigan Irish Music Festival. Though we are obviously not exactly in the Irish music genre we were ecstatic to play for this, one of the great Irish music festivals going, while the festival was happy to showcase us as a local folk music attraction. For two of our four sets we were lucky enough to collaborate with our old friend Carl Webb, another musical standard in our community.

Our first concert of 2018 is part of a series we have played severals times, and it's another "home town" event. This FREE show sponsored by the Friends of Hackley Library on Monday January 8 has been moved to a larger venue. We will be playing in the iconic 500 seat auditorium at The Corner. This beautiful building has stood in Muskegon, MI for many years as the Christian Science Reading Room, but has recently been purchased by the Central Methodist Church as a community center and alternative worship space. It's gonna be great!

The rest of our January and February will be spent playing our music in Florida. Most of these dates are on our web schedule linked below. Be sure to see if any are near where you might be. One partucilar highlight will be our concert at the Leesburg Center for the Arts. Not only will there be an evening concert, but Ruth will be leading a songwriting workshop. Check it out if you're in the area.

All the pertinent details are in the linked schedule below. Be sure to have a look.

Thanks for reading. Thanks for listening. Thanks for supporting our music.

Happy New Year!

Ruth and Max

"They are charming, traditional, and skilled musicians. You are in for a real treat! Ruth stands out in particular with her vocals, which are rich, warm, and mellifluous. Though the Bloomquists have been at this since the 70s, I only first heard them perform a year ago, and when Ruth started singing, I was blown away. Fantastic." Melissa Dagonhart, Maple Street Folk Concerts, Lombard, IL" — Melissa Dagonhart, Maple Street Folk Concerts

"What a show--great musicianship, great songs, and Ruth's voice just melts over the crowd like butter on a biscuit...delicious! Let's do it again!" — Terry Grannis, Zellie's Opry House

"Turn Back A Page - Real songs with real emotions, great instrumental work, superb harmonies and one of the best female vocalists in the business (Ruth, of course!). This CD is pure listening pleasure."" — Al Kniola, Host, The Back Porch, 88.1 WVPE Public Radio
